Motherhood is a wonderful thing. It’s a blessing! But sometimes we just need encouragement in this area. I mean, if we are being honest there are just tough days or even weeks in motherhood and it helps to have a (albeit figurative) helping hand sometimes! Here are my favorite mama encouragement resources that I wanted to share!
1. The Bible
If I mentioned nothing else, this is it. God’s word has all we need in it to navigate through this life. The wisdom in it is the foundation for all wisdom. It’s the top of the list!
2. Risen Motherhood Podcast
This podcast is unique in that it filters all things motherhood through the lens of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. How awesome is that? In a society that is speaking louder than ever through social media and otherwise, I love that they are saying, “But what is the right way to look at this/that topic in light of the Gospel?” It’s wonderful! Highly recommend.
3. Heidi St. John Podcast
Talk about gold. Heidi St. John brings that loving nudge that we need to be bold in our faith and motherhood. She speaks truth and encouragement as well as speaks on the current events in the world and how we are to respond to them as children of God. She’s also funny and someone you would want to sit and have coffee with which is always a win when listening to a podcast :)
4. Focus on the Family app
I absolutely love Focus on the family for so many reasons. They often have encouragement episodes just for moms. We are always recommending this app to our marriage small group as well because they really cover all topics relating to the family but I can’t leave it out in my motherhood list because they have really ministered to me in this area.
5. Friendships
What a blessing friends are! I am so very thankful for the friendships God has blessed me with. Whether through friends that are moms themselves or those that aren’t, friends are there to lend a helping hand or speak encouragement into tough situations when we need it. If you are struggling to build mom friendships, I encourage you to pray and ask God for friends! And then when you might not find any still, choose to BE the friend you are looking for! Sometimes it just takes getting out of our comfort zone a little to find those friendships but they are such a blessing!
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”
6. Hobbies
This might sound adverse to “things that encourage you in motherhood” but I assure you, it’s true. Sometimes motherhood can be discouraging when it is literally the ONLY thing we have going on. Sometimes all it takes is to start a little hobby for the joy of motherhood to return. When life seems dull or mundane, think of something you might enjoy doing! Even 10 minutes a day can help so much. Some ideas could be: painting, sewing, writing, exercising, scrapbooking, reading, you name it!
I hope you find this list encouraging! I would love to hear some things that encourage you in your motherhood journey. We are all in this together and we are there to help lift one another up!

Chrissy
