The weather is pretty amazing here in Miami but sometimes to beat the heat we like to find indoor activities that we can enjoy as a family. Shopping at IKEA is one of our favorites.
Ikea With Littles
Here are a couple of reasons why:
The Samples
Who doesn’t love a good sample? We love trying whatever new samples they have in the Swedish Food Market. Especially the ginger thins, so yummy.
The food
The restaurant upstairs is great and the best part is they have free lunch and dinner (for littles) on Tuesday and free breakfast for everyone on Monday! Can’t beat free! But if you eat at the Bistro downstairs you come close. We really love the IKEA Bistro downstairs. For about $5 our whole family can have a meal of hot dogs, chips and a drink. Amazing.
The Play Areas
They have a play area downstairs for littles where you can check them in for thirty minutes while you shop. Since our littles are still very small we usually forgo that option and keep them with us while we shop. They love playing at the children’s home area!
The Shopping
My hubby and I can shop. Being that he loves all things creative and I love all things home related, we always have so much fun. And the prices are amazing!
Just a random note but this is the best can opener ever. It’s only $1.99. We have been buying it for years. I could never seem to find a good can opener that would last but once we found this little treasure, we have been going back for it ever since. You can never underestimate the power of a good can opener ;)
It’s always a great time at IKEA! Do you like taking your littles to IKEA? What’s your favorite part?

HI Chrissy! I had never considered making Ikea a fun for family trip. It has always been a chore really… only going when we specifically need to buy furniture.. . Now that I’m a stay at home mommy… I going to take my little ones early and try out visiting with a calm fun demeanor.
We have always gone on busy days ..weekends..so it gets crazy.
Thank you for the tip!!!! I love your blog!!! Oh and thanks to your blog.. I found out about Aldi… and it has changed our lives!!!! I would pass by thinking it was an expensive fresh food market.
Thank you! !!!
Thanks Jennie!! I’m excited you’re going to try out IKEA with your kiddos! I think you’ll have a lot of fun! And SO happy you’re enjoying Aldi, aren’t the prices amazing?! Xo <3
I finally went a couple months ago! I love it!!
Free coffee in the cafe with IKEA member card
That’s right Tricia! As much as I love coffee, we don’t take advantage of this very much since you need to use the ceramic mug and sit with it upstairs :)
If you haven’t bought a pack of ikea scissors your missing out. They are really cheap and come three in a pack and give you different sizes. And they cut great. They are the best for the annoying coupon paper that gets crinkled with other scissors. It cuts crisp and straight. Best deal ever. I have like two packs of them and I might go get more cause everyone keeps taking mine.
Thanks for the tip Denise! I haven’t tried but sounds like I need to get some of those :)
Cinnamon rolls! We always go when my mom comes to visit and schedule the whole day. My last “splurge” were 99 cent plastic plants in $1.49 ceramic pots for my kitchen window. I have a black thumb and I can’t kill those suckers. I also bought the castle tent for my little one who loves it.
Shannan, you’re so right how did I forget mentioning the cinnamon rolls?! So delish! Haha I totally hear you I have a black thumb as well, I need to get some plastic plants next visit :)
