Disney Trip Part 1

Our son Landon turned 5 last month and for his birthday he really wanted to do the Jedi Training at Hollywood Studios. Since it doesn’t take much convincing for his dad and I to say yes to a Disney trip, we decided to combine his birthday trip with our family vacation this year. We had a blast!

Disney Trip

Our first day we went to Animal Kingdom. It had been a while since our last Animal Kingdom visit so we were excited to get back. We saw the Nemo show, the boys went on the Kilimanjaro Safari (I gladly shopped during this ride since I’m preggo and it’s not recommended), we saw awesome animals and the boys had fun playing at the big Dino play area.

Disney Trip

On our second day, we hit up my personal favorite, Magic Kingdom. It never gets old I tell ya!

Disney Trip

We started out on the right foot and got some apple fritters at Joffrey’s Coffee before we hopped on the ferryboat over to the park. Have you tried these?? My goodness. They are pretty much all we talk about on our way to Disney. They are gigantic and delicious and we don’t share (LOL). Ok, we share sometimes with the kids.

Disney Trip

We shopped some when we entered the park and got the boys some cute Mickey hats. Somehow getting Mickey hats instead of Star Wars comforted me and made me feel like they aren’t growing up way too fast. I was so happy that they were excited about Mickey Mouse because I was starting to think they were growing out of that stage *tear*.

Disney Trip

One thing we did differently this trip was go to Tom Sawyers Island. Nate and I had been plenty of times to the Tom Sawyers Island at Disneyland before but not Disney World. It was so fun! They have these amazing tunnels (which are actually kind of intense in some parts, haha) and creaky bridges to go across, a playground and a bunch of other fun stuff to check out. This was a highlight of the trip for sure and I know we will definitely being going back there next time. It’s a great way to get some energy out for the boys and they loved it. We had fast passes that day for Peter Pan (Classic), Winnie the Pooh and Buzz Light Year. I’d say those are our three family favorites in that park (for now) so that was a total win. It was an awesome day.

Disney Trip

The next day was what we lovingly refer to on our trips as “rest day”. If you go to Disney World for more than 5 days or so, I totally recommend a rest day. We went to the pool, barbecued hot dogs and took naps. Blessed naps.

*Budget friendly tip – Our friends were so kind and let us rent their time share for our trip. Staying somewhere with a kitchen is a lifesaver for us budget-wise on these trips. You can save by making your own breakfast and even packing your lunch for the parks. Disney is our favorite, but it’s not cheap so this is our favorite way to save.

Disney Trip

I’m all about relaxing but by mid afternoon on rest day, I was ready to get back to the parks! I gently talked my sweet hubby into an Epcot visit and we were on our way. It was such a fun way to end rest day! We were visiting during the International Flower and Garden Festival and it’s so beautiful there. They had a butterfly garden, beautiful flowers every where and yummy food carts all around with different delicacies to try. We still had yet to try the fish and chips in the UK Pavilion and that sounded good so we went for it. It was so good and a perfect way to end the night!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our Disney trip!…
